February 27 : An Agile Success Story with Rob Lally

Here's one you don't want to miss ...

Our next evening meeting will be held on the 27th of February in the JP Morgan Offices, Alhambra House, Waterloo St, in Glasgow, starting at 7:30. Security will be expecting us and will escourt us to the 6th floor meeting room.

JP Morgan European Technology centre – A brownfield success story*
Interview with Rob Lally, VP, JP Morgan

Rob Lally has set up and run several highly successful Agile teams at JP Morgan's Technology Centre in Glasgow. These teams are successful because they deliver exceptional value to their business customers. Rob will share stories of his Agile journey, highlighting his successes and failures. He will discuss the challenges of introducing Agile into an established development site with existing infrastructure and legacy systems.

Rob Lally is a VP at JP Morgan's European Technology Centre in Glasgow, where he has worked for the past four years. His work is split equally between technology delivery and project/people management and he has learned to see the world from both sides of the fence. Rob is a passionate advocate of Agile methods because he sees them working successfully every day.

* This is a repeat of Rob's fascinating session at January's very successful AgileScoltand / ScotlandIS / VISION consulting "Scottish Agile Day" in Edinburgh. The interview part will run a little longer and will be followed up with a Q & A session.

Help! New meeting room required

Just in case you missed it:

-> Since Craig is leaving ... we need a new meeting location. Can you help? Do you have any suggestions for meeting locations in Edinburgh or Glasgow? Free would be good, but not totally necessary.

Good news ... bad news

The Good news

-> Our "Agile Day" (in conjunction with ScotlandIS and sponsored by VISION consulting) went very well. We had over 100 people turn out between the two sessions. AgileScotland Regulars Tim Munro, Callum Lindsay, Peter Aitken, Mark Davidson, Ali Law, Rob Lally, and Paul Wilson contributed their time and enthusiasm towards "spreadin the word". Feedback so far has generally been very positive. I personally learnt lots and lots and lots. We'll be repeating some of the sessions during the year.

-> We've agreed with ScotlandIS, the Scottish Trade body for IT stuff, to become "partner" organisations, which is great for getting our "cause" a wider audience.

-> Agile guru Tom Gilb is going to be in Scotland later this year and he'll be running a session for us in September. Plus, I'm going to organise a public course or two. He wrote what I consider to be the first "agile" book - over 18 years ago - and his inspection book is a classic.

-> Craig Murphy is leaving C&B for pastures new. So congratulations Craig. Sounds like a fun move.

The Bad news

-> Since Craig is leaving ... we need a new meeting location. Can you help? Do you have any suggestions for meeting locations in Edinburgh or Glasgow? Free would be good, but not totally necessary.

I'll announce the next session as soon as we have a meeting place!

Thanks
Clarke
